five years of your life

i remember the first day of high school and thinking to myself that i wanted to go home. and i remember the day i got into a scuffle with some punk who was blocking the front doors. and i remember the day a simple burst of laughter from a.s. spared me what could have been the most embarrassing day of my life. and i remember the day some non-french kid named guy introduced me to the music of duran duran. and i remember the day r.p. broke my finger with a single kick while playing foot hockey in the courtyard. and i remember the day i worked security detail at the school fashion show. and i remember the day i drove my mother's car to school for the first (and last) time. and i remember the day mr. e told the story of how he flunked out of college because he fell in love with a girl. and i remember the day i mastered the art of the hacky-sack in the back field. and i remember the day everyone in school was informed that one of our classmates had died of cancer. and i remember the day i wore my first ocean pacific t-shirt to class and how cool i felt. and i remember the day d.b. threatened to kill my friends and me if we ever bothered him again. and i remember the day my father and i drove through a raging snowstorm to attend my brother's basketball game in barrie. and i remember the day l.b. spent the better part of an hour trying to convince me that pink floyd was musically superior to duran duran. and i remember the day some punk in phys ed class deliberately tossed a basketball at my head. and i remember the day local band the spoons put on a concert for the ages in our school gymnasium. and i remember the day i spotted my girlfriend walking home with another guy. and i remember the day i learned that i had been accepted at western.

but i don't remember much else.

  1. this is, perhaps, the best post you have ever written.

well, at the very least, it's my favourite.

it carries the same tone that i use with my writing... just saying.
